STOP PRESS - Jambiani's first ever dental clinic

On their recent January Field Trip, the ZAP contingent took with them from the UK a massive quantity of brand new dental instruments, extremely generously donated by Mark Blomfield and sourced and supplied by David Kaplan both of whom took a great deal of trouble on our behalf. The implements are excellent quality but of course weighed an absolute ton, and the objections raised by Coastal Airlines, who fly us in little planes with strict weight limits from Dar to Stone Town, were tricky to overcome. Verbal and practical persuasion was needed, but we eventually triumphed and they were delivered to a delighted Dr Hamza at the clinic.

The dentists’ room in the clinic – henceforth to be known as ‘The Mark Blomfield Dental Clinic‘  is now fully equipped, and there is terrific excitement not only in our village but among other villages in the area. For the first time ever, Jambiani will have a dentist – he will visit on a regular basis – and it is really amazing to think that this wonderful gift from the UK will benefit well over 10,000 people. Many thanks Mark and David!
